MegaFon selects OnAir’s mobile technology onboard Aeroflot’s A330 and A320 fleet

OnAir will start offering connectivity services onboard by June, 2010, following the signature of an agreement with , a leading Russia-based mobile network operator.

Under the agreement, MegaFon will operate its own branded air network onboard Aeroflot’s fleet under a license agreement with OnAir. Passengers flying on Aeroflot equipped A330 and A320 family aircraft will be offered attractive mobile communication packages from MegaFon. The service will be based on Inmarsat’s Swiftbroadband (SBB) and will include GSM/GPRS and WiFi Internet.

“Russia is a high-potential market. We are pleased to be the first to enter this market and the first to establish a new form of cooperation with mobile phone companies”, said Benoit Debains, CEO of OnAir.

MegaFon’s Head of New Technology and Projects Department, Denis Nochevnov, said, “OnAir’s technology allows us to innovate and pioneer new services. This helps differentiate our service, and enables our customers to stay in touch with colleagues, family and friends while flying.”

OnAir is the only provider that operates a fully integrated solution that includes both mobile and Internet services (GSM/GPRS and WiFi services). These include voice/text communications, data and Internet enabling passengers to carry on with their travel planning, as well as to communicate with their colleagues, friends and families, in exactly the same way they can on the ground.

OnAir aims to sign a series of agreements with national mobile phone operators around the world, boosting access to and availability of the OnAir technology to passengers – ensuring they benefit from the best possible deals while enjoying uninterrupted use of their devices.
