VimpelCom launches 3G in Syktyvkar
VimpelCom (which operates under the Beeline trademark) announced the commercial launch of «third generation» (3G) mobile network in Ezhva district of Syktyvkar city, capital of Komi Republic. Syktyvkar population is 230,980 people (in 2008).
At the moment population of Ezhva is about sixty thousand people. 3G network covers 100% territory of the district. Network is deployed with the help of Huawei Technologies equipment and is based on UMTS standard.
All services in the new network are priced the same way as in the GSM network. To date the company has already deployed next-generation networks in more than 40 Russian cities. Therefore, Beeline is the first operator to begin offering 3G network services in Komi Republic.
