VimpelCom launches 3G network in Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil
VimpelCom (which operates under the Beeline trademark) announces commercial launch of 3G network in two cities in Sverdlovsk region - Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil. The population of these two cities comprises 40% of the total region population. Sverdlovsk region is the largest in Ural. Its population is 4 395.6 people (as of 1 Jan. 2008).
Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil 3G networks are currently supported by more than 100 and 20 base stations, respectively. These station made it possible to provide 60% coverage in each city. BeeLine 3G network in Sverdlovsk region is deployed using Ericsson equipment.
