i-Free runs interactive contest for Samaya magazine
i-Free will help Samaya women's magazine run an interactive puzzle contest titled Phrase Your Happiness for its readers. The contest will run nationwide in June through August 2008.
i-Free has been a mobile value added services partner for leading Russian and CIS print media and broadcasters for years. i-Free's most valuable partnerships have been with Channel 1, TV Center, Stolitsa TV, Europa+, 1st Popular Radio, Next FM, Molotok and Maxim magazines, and others.
This is not the first job i-Free is doing for Samaya magazine, which ran another contest, The Happiest Gets the Diamonds, with i-Free assistance in the fall of 2006. "We are convinced that mobile services are a great marketing tool for the publishing business: they boost sales, strengthen reader loyalty and win new readers," said Samaya brand manager Elena Zhuravlyova. "We want our interactive promotions to be cool and colorful. I'm positive that our female readers will enjoy the Phrase Your Happiness contest."
To win in Phrase Your Happiness, Samaya readers are asked to put together a "happy phrase" with words taken from three Samaya issues: No. 6 (June), No. 7 (July) and No. 8 (August). Readers are to text their words to 4443.
The first 100 readers making the right phrase will receive guaranteed prizes: a very cool SELENA all-natural necklace and the comedy Where Do Babies Come From? on DVD courtesy of Soyuz Video.
To take part in Phrase Your Happiness readers are required to register by sending a text message to 4443 starting with the word SAMAYA, followed by the reader's last name, given name, middle name and city.
With the reply, the reader will receive a prompt telling them where to look for their first word in the June issue (No. 6) of Samaya. The word is to be SMS'ed to 4443, preceded by the word SAMAYA.
If the answer is wrong, the reader may request two extra prompts by sending messages "SAMAYA prompt 2" or "SAMAYA prompt 3" (if prompt No. 2 didn't work) to 4443.
If the first word is correct, the reader will receive an SMS prompt for her second word, hidden somewhere in the July issue (No. 7) of the magazine. The 2nd word is likewise to be SMS'ed to 4443 in a message starting with the word SAMAYA.
If her 2nd word is wrong, the reader may request two more prompts by sending the following messages to 4443: "SAMAYA prompt 4" or "SAMAYA prompt 5," whichever is appropriate.
If her 2nd word was correct, the reader will receive an SMS with a prompt for her 3rd word, to be found in the next Samaya issue (No. 8, August). The reader will then SMS her 3rd word to 4443, starting her message with the word SAMAYA.
When the phrase is complete, the reader will receive a text message saying: "Congratulations! You have completed the phrase. Look in Samaya No. 9 for our list of winners."
"Samaya is a highly rated magazine with a vast audience," said Renata Adler, project manager on the i-Free side. "It's one of the most popular magazines of its kind in Russia. We are sure Samaya readers will enjoy this new interactive quiz gameВ».
