Russia mobile subscriber base grows by 0.95% and reached 166 mln
The Russia mobile subscriber base has grown by 0.95% up to 166 mln 410 thousand (number of SIM cards) in February 2008 as compared to January 2008. The given data is provided by a monthly analytical account Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M), RBC reports. The mobile penetration level reached 114.6% as of February 29th 2008.
Vimpelcom's subscriber base (Beeline trademark) decreased by 0.3% to 52 mln 89 thousand (number of SIM cards) in February 2008. Vimpelcom's subscriber base in Russia totaled 43 mln 123 thousand, which is 0.1% decrease as compared to January 2008. The subscriber base in Moscow expanded by 0.01% to 8 mln 183 thousand. The subscriber base in Ukraine grew by 0.4%, in Armenia the index grew by 4.5% up to 473 thousand 336 users. Vimpelcom's subscriber base in Kazakhstan grew by 0.7% up to 4 mln 682 thousand.
MTS subscriber base grew by 0.3% in February 2008 up to 87 mln 781 thousand (number of SIM cards) as compared to January 2007. The Russian the given index reached 59 mln 72 thousand, which is 1.4% increase as compared to the previous month. The company's subscriber base in Moscow grew by 1.6% up to 13 mln 866 thousand users. MTS subscriber base in Ukraine reached 19 mln 672 thousand in February 2008, which is 1.3% decrease as compared to the previous month.
Megafon's subscriber base grew by 1.4% up to 36 mln 537 thousand (number of SIM cards) in February 2008 as compared to January 2008. In Russian the given index reached 36 mln 389 thousand subscribers, which is 1,3% increase as compared to January 2008. Megafon's subscriber base in Moscow increased by 0.7% up to 5.743 mln in February 2008. In Tajikistan the subscriber base grew by 2.8% up to 147.316 thousand users.
